One of our principal objectives in tax services is constructive and creative tax planning. The tax planning problems of closely held business owners, and of corporate executives generally, represents an area of Brooks, Cook & Associates, LLC special expertise. Tax ideas and developments of unique interest, not ordinarily available through commercial reporting channels, are communicated to clients through bulletins covering such subjects as year-end tax planning and new tax legislation. Treasury Department rulings, Congressional hearings and court opinions are constantly reviewed to maintain current tax intelligence and to develop strategies to deal with upcoming issues.
ACCOUNTING AND AUDITING
Accounting and auditing services center primarily around the review and examination of financial statements and the expression of our opinion, as independent CPA's, on the fairness of the presentation of financial position and operating results. We utilize a constructive approach in auditing. For example, as a result of acquiring intimate knowledge of our clients' financial and administrative problems, we often recommend procedural and organizational improvements for more efficient operation, stronger financial structure, and enhanced accounting and administrative controls. Our philosophy and practice is to blend the technical, practical, and business approach in each engagement.
FINANCIAL ACCOUNTING SERVICES
Our Financial Accounting Services Department is available to assist with the day-to-day duties such as accounting, bookkeeping, and the compilation of financial statements. We are available to assist on either a long-term or short-term basis using as much capacity as the instant situation may require.
Our in-house accounting system is capable of providing virtually any financial statement layout requested, including current and year-to-date balances, current vs. prior, operations by month, and actual vs. budget. We have organized this department to fill the gap between management's reporting needs and in-house capabilities.
MANAGEMENT ADVISORY SERVICES
Business Planning. The process of business planning ranges from long-range strategic planning to active involvement in solving daily operational problems. Brooks, Cook & Associates is able to offer these services by virtue of the Firm's commitment to employing and retaining professionals with the broad range of expertise required to address the diverse needs of our clients.
PERSONAL FINANCIAL PLANNING
Brooks, Cook & Associates believes that the most effective individual planning encompasses more than just income tax planning. Although the future is full of uncertainties, we believe that comprehensive financial planning can minimize the impact of those uncertainties, affording our clients the greatest opportunity to achieve their desired goals.
Our role as financial planner is limited to planning. We do not sell products or receive commissions, but are compensated for our services on an hourly basis. Typically, our clients have well-established relationships with other professionals providing specific products or services, and we work with them as a team to meet the clients' respective needs. In our veiw, a comprehensive financial plan ensures the proper context for making meaningful financial decisions.
Retirement Planning. One of the most critical areas of financial planning for many executives and entrpreneurs is retirement planning. Brooks, Cook & Associates works closely with enrolled actuaries, a designation that permits them to design and administer retirement plans before the Internal Revenue Service.
To assist individuals in their retirement planning, we work closely with them to determine what the retirement needs will be. We then obtain the information needed to determine the cost of the retirement plan. Various plans are then considered, weighing the cost and benefits, culminating in the selection of the appropriate plan.
In-house seminars, presented by our Principals, specialists or prominent guest speakers, offer clients an opportunity to explore the many facets of the complex, ever-changing world of business. Seminars of special interest are offered to acquaint clients' officers and personnel with the new techniques, interpretations and regulations that affect their operations.
